Chapter 114, Sheboygan WI offers the following last rites services to its members and associate members.These options are available in any combination based on the wishes of the deceased or the survivors.1) Presence. Two or more chapter members to attend the wake or funeral service wearing VFP insignia. These members will join the body of mourners. Single red roses will be placed next to the urn or on casket at grave site. 2) Honor Guard. Four or more chapter members will solemnly march into the area around the casket or urn. Stand at attention as U.S. flag is placed to the right and the VFP flag at the left of the altar or other focus point. The detail will present arms (hand salute) as a last gesture of respect to their fellow chapter member. This may be done at the wake, funeral, or gravesite. 3) Pallbearers. Chapter 114 will provide two to four members wearing VFP insignia as pall bearers at the wake or funeral. This may be in addition to other honors such as formal presentation of arms, and red roses. 4) Other services. If any other service or ritual is requested by the family, Chapter 114 will do its best to honor their wishes. Veterans for Peace will not carry or discharge firearms at any ceremony. |
